The historical number of Popular Electronics
The American magazine Popular Electronics announces the first microcomputer sold in kit: the Altair 8800, based on the Intel 8080. This car marks the beginning of the personal computer revolution. The operating system will be a version of BASIC written by Bill Gates. Will be the rival of the MITS Altair computer IMSAI 8080, the protagonist of the movie "Wargames" (the computer was used by Matthew Broderick to connect to NORAD). The marketing model of the unfortunate IMSAI VDP-80 will fail the manufacturing company.
